Since then, Brian has been asking me to hem the curtains. I never needed to hem them before because our bed was covering it:

But, the long curtains have been driving Brian crazy... Can you see how long they were???

I didn't totally know what I was doing, but I got out my sewing machine, scissors, and ruler.

Oh wait! I forgot something! Before I took the curtains down, I measured how much I needed to hem! So I measured out 15 inches and pinned them in place.
Then I used my little sewing machine to sew it up! It was pretty difficult for me to keep a perfectly straight line because the fabric was so heavy and my table and sewing machine are so small. But I don't think anyone will notice unless they're looking really closely.
Also, I cut off about a foot of excess fabric so the hem would only be a couple inches.
And here's how it looks now!!
Not too shabby, huh??
Could this be the beginning of a seamstress career?

Very nice! I've been pretty hesitant to do any fancy sewing projects but this looks like something I could do.

Nice job! Straight lines are over-rated, the hems look great. Never be afraid of a sewing project, someone came up with the best tool in my sewing room...seam ripper! It will always save you...LOL! Keep up the good work!
Bravo Miss Shannon; I can't even turn a sewing machine on! haha
Good for you! Hemming curtains has to be one of my least favorite things ever! The curtains in our master bedroom are still dragging the floor. :)
